The team of the “Garden of Cognition” Foundation conducted a three-day training on the topic: “In the footsteps of Bulgarian culture and crafts” under the project of the “New Perspectives for Development” Association.
Within the framework of the activity, over twenty young people aged 14 to 18, together with their teachers, got acquainted with the goals of the project, studied the almanac of Bulgarian traditions, visited the Ethnographic Museum and got acquainted with some of the most significant Bulgarian crafts – felt, icon painting, art fabrics, wood carving and souvenir making.
The young people conducted on a study of traditional Bulgarian names, family and clan as the most significant structures for building the life and culture of a Bulgarian, their rules and laws and the observance of various holidays in every home. They played bagpipes and “horo” dances from different folklore areas played.
They had the opportunity to develop individual creative projects aimed at building on the knowledge gained.
In the Street of Crafts in the Old Town of Plovdiv, prominent craftsmen were waiting for them, who revealed to them the magic of Bulgarian craftsmen. They also held an open lesson on icons painting, making candlesticks, wool products and jewelry boxes.
All participants took with them new knowledge and fond memories from the three-day training, the purpose of which was to remind them of our roots, the strength of the family and the memorable Bulgarian spirit and culture.
